About

Clark Ellice

My name is Clark Ellice and I am proud to be an elite New Zealand triathlete. I want an Olympic medal – this is my long-term goal. I have gone from 144th ITU World ranked Elite Male triathlete in 2006 to a credible 32nd at the end of 2009.

My drive is simple, a true and real intrinsic motivation! I am fuelled by a relentless passion to dominate Male Elite level Olympic distance triathlon in New Zealand by 2012.

My passion is fuelled by two very important values I hold dear, to inspire a nation to believe in the importance of winning and to get kids thinking at a young age of believing in the dream to become an elite athlete in their chosen sport one day.

The Olympics is the pinnacle of sport in triathlon and I compete annually in the ITU World Championship Series to improve my ranking each year and to work my way towards being a top ten World ranked elite triathlete by 2012.

I love hard work and am a big believer in doing your time to get to the top. There are no short cuts for consistency and daily work done properly to get ahead annually. I’m driven to train smarter and harder than any other New Zealand triathlete I have seen, usually on a shoestring budget. My strong work ethic started developing in 2000 where I competed as an age group New Zealand triathlete. I have returned to the World Champs as an elite triathlete ever since starting in 2002, with two World Championship medals to my name. Rodney Gordon was my first triathlon coach coming out of Auckland Grammar School, where I laid the seeds for a great sporting career, five years in Auckland as a boarder.

My heart and love for life remains in Taranaki though. I was born here, my family lives here and my spirit swims, bikes and runs its way daily in the surf of our lovely beaches, through out the many trails our region has to offer for exploration and adventure in the mountains, and bike the countless country roads untainted by traffic lights or cars in the rugged farmlands of the greater region that is Taranaki.

Thank you for taking the time to hear my story, the best is yet to come.
Strive for excellence relentlessly!
